Science at the Institute
One of the directions of scientific development of the Institute’s employees is targeted research for the development of technologies based on renewable energy sources, works on the processing technology and preparation of plant biomass for energy use and research on the development of new measurement methods, including non-invasive methods based on image analysis, works related to automation of production processes .
The research profile of the chair is supplemented by issues related to food preservation technologies. The conducted works concern mainly technologies related to drying and rehydration of agricultural products. The work is devoted mainly to the study and modeling of the drying and rehydration process aimed at minimizing the energy expenditure of the process while maintaining the required product quality. The works are carried out with the use of modern mathematical devices, including those based on genetic algorithms. In order to optimize production processes, research is carried out on the implementation of technology for non-invasive monitoring of the course of these processes. The research work carried out in the department is also focused on the development and implementation of innovative, non-invasive technologies enabling the assessment of the quality of products based on vision and ultrasound techniques.
